He also serves as chief financial officer and treasurer of\u00a0<strong>Capital Square Apartment REIT, Inc.,<\/strong>\u00a0a real estate investment trust sponsored by the company. An established leader in the real estate industry with expertise in the REIT and multifamily sectors, Olander brings over 40 years of proven expertise to Capital Square.<\/p>\n<p class=\"appear-on-scroll appear-init appeared\">\u201cI am thrilled that Jay Olander, our colleague and friend, has joined the senior leadership at Capital Square,\u201d said\u00a0<strong>Louis Rogers<\/strong>, founder and co-chief executive officer of Capital Square. \u201cJay has unrivaled expertise with REITs and in the multifamily sector. With his depth of experience, we aim to expedite the path Capital Square is on \u2013 to make Capital Square the best real estate company in the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"appear-on-scroll appear-init appeared\">Prior to joining Capital Square, Olander was an independent director of Capital Square Apartment REIT, Inc. and the managing partner of Cornerstone Realty Advisors, LLC. Previously, he was the founder, chief executive officer and a director of Landmark Apartment Trust, Inc., prior to its ac\u0192caquisition by Starwood Capital Group and Milestone Apartments Real Estate Investment Trust in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $1.9 billion. Under Olander\u2019s leadership, Landmark aggregated a multifamily portfolio that was ultimately comprised of 24,000 apartment units located throughout the Southern states and strategic Texas markets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"appear-on-scroll appear-init appeared\">Previously, Olander served as chief executive officer of Grubb &amp; Ellis REIT Advisor and as executive vice president of the multifamily division of Grubb &amp; Ellis Company. He also served in various other capacities within the former international real estate services firm, including as chief executive officer, president and chairman of the board of directors of Grubb &amp; Ellis Residential Management, Inc. Earlier in his career, Olander served as president and chief financial officer and a director of Cornerstone Realty Income Trust, Inc., a publicly traded apartment REIT listed on the New York Stock Exchange with a market capitalization of $1.5 billion. In 2005, he oversaw the sale of Cornerstone REIT.
